505 Mechanical Scale — balance beam with magnetic dampener.
Universal Case Loading Block can accommodate most pistol or rifle cases.
RCBS Uniflow Powder Measure — with large and small case adapters.

RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Master Review in summary

  • Simple and elegant design that will last for a lifetime.
  • Using the piggyback, the single-stage reloading press can transform into the Turret press.
  • The 4.1″ aperture can be adapted to more cases. A long ambidextrous handle minimizes the work involved in sizing cases. cases.
  • The die bushing can be changed with Hornady Lock-N Load and Lee Breech Lock quick die change bushing system.
Cons
  • No calibrator to measure case lengths.
  • For beginners, a digital scale would be a better addition instead of a balance beam scale.
  • The hand priming tool and the press use the same shell holder, the second set of case holders would be perfect.

These were the main differences among the RCBS presses. One advantage the Rebel has over rockchucker is the wide, flat base that surrounds the shell holder. This allows for easy case operation. There are some similarities between the presses. These include:

The presses are both of US Origin and are similar in design. They also have heavy-duty cast iron frame which increases their strength and weight.
Ambidextrous handle – RCBS has maintained the Ambidextrous handle design. It is a solid design that didn’t require any upgrades.
Both have extremely tight tolerances in accuracy and standard deviation between rounds. This makes them both reliable reloading presses.
Both use the same 7/8-14 bushing threading to die.
It does not have a quick die-changing system. It can be upgraded to Hornady Lock N Load die bushing or Lee Breech Lock Die Busing.

The RCBS has prepared some starting kits for the new rebel press. They are very comprehensive in providing a beginner reloader with all the tools necessary to start reloading.

The Uniflow III powder measure, which is the most accurate and current Powder Measure by RCBS, is just a few of the notable items in the kits. Deburr tools and the Handloading Manual Speer 15 are some of the other essential items.

There are a few commonalities between the kits: they do not include any type of bullet puller, case trimmer (eventually any kind of reloader will make a mistake and will require a bullet puller), or case cleaning tumbler.

RCBS Rebel vs Rock Chucker Supreme in summary

Rebel Press:
Larger case openings and more operational space
It is heavier because it has more material and it has a wider base that makes it more stable.
Zerk fittings make it easier to lubricate the ram.
It has a flat base that wraps around the case holder, making it easier for you to use your cases

Rock Chucker Press:
The case opening is slightly smaller (0.4 inches).
It is stable and durable, but lighter than the standard version.
Little disassembling is required for lubrication.
Small and multileveled space, making it harder to clean spills.

The Rebel Press now includes many of the features found in the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme. Some features, such as the on-press priming and how the spent primer exits from the press, have been removed or modified. The Rebel is an incredible upgrade that precision reloaders will love and should have in their arsenal.

FAQs

1 thought on “Rcbs rebel vs rock chucker”

  1. Good review. I’ve had the RCBS Rebel for over a year now, and have no complaints. I do disagree, however with three of your “Cons” about the Rebel. First, “There’s no on-press priming.” Very few handloaders used that system anyway. The thing was just in the way. Next, “No quick die-changing system.” You hit that in your review. Just something RCBS does not do, but Hornady, and Lee will take our money, and it works on the Rebel. Lastly, “Relatively heavy (22 lbs).” That is the point. It was designed that way, and is supposed to be heavy. A big factor when I chose the Rebel, in fact.

    Thanks again for the review.
